Tammy, my original plan was and is schutzhund sport training for the dog. A legal requirement for service dog, I do not think I will need one, even thou I am disable. So if I do get a pup that can do the sport, I will hope my body can hang in there for the demands. A companion dog for me, definitive, meaning my buddy. not, going in to stores or restaurants or any nature as that. walking in the woods, bet you. Even thou I hope I can or the scooter can. having a reason to leave the house, bet you, emotional therapy as taking care and loving exercising and training a good citizen, bet you. Do not want any situation of potential harm to come anyone the dog or myself. Dan

Danilo, Thank you for clarifying your needs of a "service dog." I foster/train potentional service dogs, my own dogs are trained in pet therapy so there is a big difference, I just wanted to understand what you were looking for.
Schutzhund is an interesting sport, and I believe that a properly trained Schutzhund dog that has earned all titles, has a more reliable temperment than a poorly trained dog, or one not trained at all. Unfortunately, when you start dealing with legal issues, there is controversy by those that don't understand what the sport consists of, and their failure to educate themselves about it.
You would know better than us about your physical/mental capacity, and any limitations you may have to withstand the
time and rigors of Schutzhund training. Willie gave some good advice and links for you to check out...Good luck!
Tammy, I know I have come to the right place for good information and learning. I can see your point of a dog with good temperament and training. Thanks. Dan
