What a tough day for all of you! Sending good thoughts your way.
My opthamologist is a lot less expensive ... I hope the one you see is too. But, when it comes to an eye, it's worth it.
So I have an appointment for Flash at the Opthamologist this Friday. The flap from his third eyelid doesnt seem to be painful for him, but it seems to move into his line of vision. When I asked the ER vet if we could wait before removing the flap, I also asked if this could cause any further damage. She said it should not because it is part of the third eyelid and it constantly would touch the eye. I am concerned that it constantly sitting on the cornea could cause irritation or ulceration just like a cherry eye would. What do you all think? Am I stressing for nothing? The vet seemed pretty confident it wouldn't cause any damage since I asked her more than once just to make sure I was making the right decision.
Follow up: The dogs are healing nicely. Flash is going in on Thursday to have part of his third eyelid removed. The vet said it will be very quick, they will put him under anesthesia for less than 5 minutes and just cut the hanging flap off. No need for stitches or anything else, so I am happy about that. Flash's ear still has a large scab on it, but the vet thinks it is healing nicely.
Teddee is walking on his leg fine again. He has been licking where they shaved his leg and there were puncture wounds which gave him a hot spot. I have been putting liquid bandage with bitters on it now that is had time to drain to prevent him from licking (he still licks...)
