Finn is now getting annoyed when I play with the girls and he's tethered to his crate with his 6ft puppy leash. I have many toys and am sitting within the 6ft so if he wants attention he can get it.
But yesterday the little snot starting pulling my carpet apart. I thought at first he was chewing on his rope bone that was sitting right next to his front paw. But oh no, he just wanted to chew on the carpet.
Any ideas to break this habbit?? I had to glue the carpet fibers back to the carpet. Thank god for tacky glue and drying clear.
Put him in the crate in a quiet place away from the play area.
He is really young and it is not fair to expect him to sit quietly when his people are having fun and playing without him. Until he is older and can maintain a long down, I wouldn't expect him to not get frustrated.
I see it as a good thing, he must really love his pack to get so frustrated about not being allowed to play!
All I can say is redirect his attentions. He has found something that interests him and so he is going to keep at it, unless you redirect his attention and energies away from it.
When my dog Kaia was a pup, she had a fixation with those little plastic coverings on those wall protectors that are springy.
She would hunt down every little plastic piece she could find! I had to remove all of them from behind every door just to avoid the choking hazard.
It is incredibly frustrating, but unfortunately puppies are just like little toddlers....they get into everything if they get the chance.
They just take more attention and redirection. Also if Finn won't leave it alone and you are giving time to your girls, I would crate him for the time you are giving to them.
Yeah, sounds like I will have to crate him. He gets so upset and loves spending time with the kids. Finally doesn't try bowling them over, but still jumps on the youngest. We have found that if she sits in "mom's lap" he will lay next to her and she pets him.
Otherwise I can honestly say I am enjoying puppyhood and can't wait for him to get potty trained so I dont have to tether thim in the house.
He even enjoys football. I can just see him with kids and hubby during games. (mumbles to herself "and they think I am nuts for disliking football season)
