Hello all,
My male GSD, 5 months old and 45-50 lbs, has been on a raw diet since he was weaned off of mama. He is healthy and loves everything we give him, sticking with the basic menu of chicken backs, ground beef, egg sometimes, cottage cheese sometimes, and maybe a little bit of organ meat. Of course we don't give him all that every meal. My question is, when can we switch to 2x feeding daily. He is active, but not so much to burn off 3 meals worth of food everyday. Thanks for your input.

Right or wrong, I never fed 3 meals. Mine all started with 2 meals from the time I got them at 10-14 weeks. Never had any problems. I think you can switch to 2 meals any time now.

The usual rule of thumb for me on the three to two meal a day thing is what their poop looks like after you go to two. If the size of the meal causes loose stools and reducing food causes poor condition then I go back to three meals.
The same amout of food is spread out to be fed in 2 meals instead of 3 if you are planning on only feeding 2x a day. Unless you need to adjust the amount up or down to increase or decrease the weight of the dog. If the dog can't handle the larger meals (gets loose stool) then you may need to stay at 3 meals & try again in a few weeks.
I, personally, feed pups 3 meals a day until 6 months or so. (very young pups(8-10 wks)4x. I would also be careful not to exercise a GSD, or other deep chested breed dog,(due to possibility of bloat) for an hour or 2 after feeding, especially after a larger meal. I NEVER work my dogs until 2 hours after meals & not for an hour before. After they get their evening meal (usually a bit larger of the meals for the day) there is no more running around or playing. It is quiet time & time to rest until the next day. I feed a homemade raw diet. Just my way of doing things.
ETA....,I would review what you are feeding. It doesn't sound as varried or healthy as it could be. I would read some of the other posts here on raw diet.
