I went through the pricing on 20 (3 dogs) of these at 2.93 and with shipping and handling it worked out to 83.00 and they always get us for border charges not to mention the exchange rate. I think I’m looking at well over 100.00.
I love the idea of these and I’m going to see if hubby can ask around at his work (they’re right into the safety gear) maybe someone knows about these and perhaps a more local distributer.
I like the flashlight thing Cheryl has there too. One of those on the husky who’s always really close, he could help with lighting the path closer to the ground. Great information and ideas guys.
I noticed the pricing with shipping too, CJ. I'll ask the musher I first got them from where he bought his. He buys a lot at once- for over 20 dogs, so maybe he knows of a better source, such as a construction supply warehouse type place.
I checked out our pet stores and couldn’t find anything of usable quality however; the tripe lady did have the Spot Lits (for 17.00 ea). Needless to say, I didn’t get any. Leerburg will get my order if I decide to get those. A friend mentioned that I should check out a sporting goods store in town. They had these and we got one:
I just couldn’t see any down side to the husky wearing it. We did an evening walk last night to try it out. Oh my gawd, is it ever cool! Bright, bright and he just loves it, not to mention I love being beside him as he’s trotting along and lighting my path.
This is an old thread, but for anyone interested with the days getting darker and the winter solstice around the corner, I just bought some illuminating safety collars from Visiglo at the local pet store for my dogs. These collars make your dog VERY visible, especially in the snow, although the flashing strobes can be overwhelming at close range. They operate with alternating LED strobe type lights, one collar flashes blue light only, the other blue, white and red.
The collars are not reflective, but they seem durable and it is possible to replace the batteries so hopefully they'll last a few years.
The website for the collars is http://www.visiglo.com and my collars are labeled 'spot your dog in the dark, illuminating safety collar lights up'. I paid $20 each.

I use the Spot-Lits and really really like them as they are very sturdy and waterproof and have a long battery life. I also do what Kiersten does and use those reflective bands with the leds in them - very visible even from distance! batttery life in them was very good also. I just bought more Spot-Lites as we go into fall training season.

Hey Kiersten, those look great!! Sounds like some powerful illumination; exactly what we’re looking for. Kudos to you for finding them and thanks for posting!!
I got three of these with my last Leerburg order too. They are cheap money wise, but I’m really impressed with them. For an interim measure they really are good at letting us know where the boys are. They dangle off the collar in such a way that we're always able to spot them.
They don’t offer much in the “lighting” department, but you sure can see the little beacons. I’m very pleased with them.
