Randy,
I actually talked to her this summer after someone else mentioned her. She said all of her clients were beside themselves because there is nowhere else to go here.
Some of them may run classes, some may be clubs getting together to train for things. Find one thats convenient and go check it out and meet the people. I've never seen anything AKC related that didnt welcome potential new members.
I did look at their website and it all looks like classes. Do you think I should try anyways? I am just so sick and tired of spending money for people who either don't know what they are doing or got stuck back in the fifties! I sincerely appreciate your opinion on this.
Linda
Lenka,
Here's what I would do if I were in your situation.
Search for clubs by going to the official websites of the AKC and UKC and the three largest SchH organizations ( the DVG, SchH USA and the WDA ).
All of them will have club listing by region and state, that should give you a starting point.
Then, make phone contact with the nearby ones to make sure that they're active. I'd visit them without my dog and observe a class or training day and talk with a few members.
Find the one that is the closest match to your needs and hopefully you'll find some friends and mentors to train with.

Can anyone recommend a good trainer anywhere from Boston to Cape Cod? If not are there any training schools in MA, RI, NH, or CT that are worth attending?
I know that many responders who sent Lenka individual names via PM understood that Lenka meant obedience and not sports trainers, but just to make clear ....
