It's hard to believe how I agonized and anticipated and experimented just a few months ago with a new puppy now that we're at this stage/age. It's pretty funny, really. I totally understand 'let a puppy be a puppy.' With your advice, I did do that but I was worried that I'd have a monster adult GSD on my hands. Cause trust me, he was a monster baby GSD to deal with. It turns out, no worrying was needed. He just flipped a switch between puppy-nut and good dog almost overnight.
I was completely inexperienced with dogs and thank the stars I found Leerburg and learned some things. I have an awesome relationship with my dog. We can play, and play fight, and knock it off, and when I call him he scrambles to get to me. I'm the only person in his life he listens to (attentively). Hehe!
Too many folks expect wayyy too much from young pups and don't understand what is normal behavior - you are not alone! The difference is, you sought out advice and learned to work with your pup. I think I read somewhere on this site, or heard it on one of the videos that the reason most people get rid of their pups is due to the fact that they are "mean and aggressive and bite the kids too much"... It is just a puppy stage and here the dogs are given away.
I'm babbling - it is GREAT that you are enjoying your dog and that he is scrambling to get to you - you must be doing a lot right!
I, too, love this site. My dogs were driving me nuts (well, one was). Within 3 weeks of reading everything here, he is so much easier to live with, as are all of the dogs now. I sure wish I found this site and all these great people years - no, decades ago!
Enjoy a long and happy life with your dog. I know I will now.
Wow, all these gorgeous GSD sig pics, I need to figure out how to show off my dog, too.
I love both your pics, Barbara and Claudette - beautiful dogs!

Thanks Lisa... You post pics by creating a photobucket (or similar) acccount - they are free, and then upload your photos to that site. They will be given a code/number for direct links to the photos or a code for "embedding" the picture directly. (I'm not using the correct terminology but I think you will figure it out.) You then to to "My Stuff" at the top of your Leerburg screen (grey bar) and then go to My Profile. Down toward the bottom there is a block for "Sig Pic" and it is here you would cut/paste the Image code which Photobucket will have assigned to that picture.
I hope this helps... It sounds harder than it is. We'd love to see your pup!
