I was wondering... If a child tells a dog when playing any such command (heal, sit, stay, wait, down, ect) if this desensitizes the dog to these words if you have previously trained them or are training them. The dog may not comply with the request from a child especially if the child in his play demands no respect. Does this have any affect on how the dog responds when the "pack leader"-me uses these commands? Is there any case where a dog does see a child a higher in rank and so likewise will be "desensitized"?

Just guessing, but I doubt if the child's interaction will have any effect on your training. The dog might hear the same words on the radio or tv but they don't make the connection there. Dogs are pretty contextual. If he knows it's time to "work" meaning listen and follow your commands then that's all that matters. Is the child old enough to become involved in training? I think it would be great if the dog showed deference to any household member old enough to give simple commands and understand what they are doing.
wow!!! did not put this in the right place! Whoever knows how to move posts could put this in the general. That is where I meant it to be but got confused. [ done ]
My little brother is 6. Not sure how to go about having a child work with the dog... Sometimes she does do what he says. Like with sit, down, wait and stay she does almost always.
