Actually, years ago, someone I knew had a well behaved Boston Terrier that did commercials and catalog ads. She made quite a bit of money (not bad for a dog, at least). What about an acting career? He could start paying rent. I don't know how you would find a talent agency in your area, Shannon made a resume complete with photos for Teri. Teri did a commercial for Pizza Hut and a Christmas catalog ad for Neiman Marcusbefore even finding an agent. I was impressed.
Nosework sounds fun (as do commercials but I'd imagine that the chance of that would be the same as MY getting into commercials). And I shall google those names (and some info on dogs in commercials >_>
Katie: unfortunatly the only park in this area is on school grounds (personal rule: no dogs near school, to many children, not enough me to protect Ryuk). And since we're banned from going off leash in the complex no more frisbee throwing for him to catch. I can still use a toss as a reward but there's no place he can run without getting caught up in a drag line. We're working on convincing one of the farmers to let us use an unused field but the time we're allowed to use it is when it's snowed over....not ideal jumping and catching conditions lol.

I think this could be a really fun option, Jamie - it would take some work on your part to market your dog correctly, but a lot of times, directors don't necessarily care about a particular breed, as much as they need a solidly trained and enthusiastic dog to include in their project.
Did you see the OK-GO music video that Cindy posted in a newsletter a few weeks ago? So much fun... I'd think Ryuk would be a pretty hot commodity in the celebrity dog world - he's such a natural performer!
And what about busking? Work on a routine together then camp out in Boston common (or a similarly busy public place) on the weekends and put your hat out for tips! I'd come watch!!

I will eventually do K9 Nose Work with Conan and the future puppy. But where I am it's expensive. Lucky for me Amy Herot is also the president of the local Schutzhund club. She is AWESOME. So kind and so full of information of all sorts.
