Could it also be that there is a lingering odor to the tug that he may not like it anymore? I'd try a new one - doesn't hurt to have a few different types in any case ☺ !
I'm going to order a little mini-sleeve tug thing from LB (ugh).

Did you smell it? lol
On a side note, my 24 week old GSD is teething like a maniac still.
Yeah. I mean, I'm a human, but I have a pretty good nose and it smells fine. I did put it through the wash, so maybe he's turned off by soap smell? Dunno.
I'm a bit paranoid about his tooth development, he really did not take it easy on the things he bit. I was constantly wincing at the noises it made as he was ripping into stuff. I hope he didn't screw himself up long-term. Up until this poo incident I would have said he had (in my non-expert opinion) a pretty high bite drive.

Did you say it was urine that got on the tug?
Sometimes urine is very very hard to get out of things. Even washing it doesn't always get right to the inner core and there may still be some odour there that the pup is reacting to.

I'ld try a new tug and see what happens.
Hmm. It was poo actually.
I'm ordering stuff tonight. I've been avoiding the money pit that is the Leerburg Store, but there's no sense in delaying the inevitable.

It might be a good idea. You might not smell anything, but his little nose might be picking up on something. Or it might even be from washing it, he could be tasting the soap residue (I think Jen mentioned that). Maybe try her suggestion of using vinegar to cut any soap residue before purchasing a new one. But then again, he might react to the vinegar smell..lol.
