Do you sock knitters do the 4 needle method? I found something on Google that looks potentially comprehensible.
I am old enough to remember socks whose heels were repaired with "darning",not even sure how to spell that, a smooth wood heel went inside the sock during the process, never did it myself.
I'm getting sock knitting lessons from a guy who calls himself the "Evil Sock Genius". Knit from the toe up using the "magic loop" method. I am lucky that I can get together with friends and knit publicly twice a week.

Wow this knitting sounds like a lot of fun, I don't know about publicly though.
But just wanted to say congrats to all the winners. What great prizes!!
And how wonderful of you Meredith, coveted prizes for sure!! I wish I'd of at least gotten something in. I don't remember ever owning a pair of knitted anything. Those socks look so cool and warm!! Hmmm can that be?
The harness still hasn't arrived. I'm thinking it's tracer time, something's gone askew. As Kiersten pointed out, a dog sled could have had it here by now.
