Well, I should have known this was comming when she sent me an "I love you" message on FaceBook. The only time I get those is when she wants something.

As for finding a good home for the pup.... don't know. Considering the fact that I have her father's dog because he was gonna go out and shoot it.. I am not all that hopeful for this one.

I agree with you Randy. Total and complete BS. Believe me, I will be having a chat with the little angel as soon as I can pin her down. I am thoroughly disgusted and she WILL feel the fury of my wrath. Dogs are NOT toys that you can get and play with for a while until you get bored with it. I thought I had taught her at least THAT much. Apparently not.

Can't cure stupid, especially when it's your own family.

Hang in there, Kel. We're all praying that the little one will find a wonderful home like the little Rottie my friend has from the Houston seizure. There are wonderful people out there looking for great dogs. Hopefully this pup will find one of those families.

I COMPLETELY understand and feel for you....I have a "brother" also.

He decided two years ago to get a dog, first he was thinking Pit Bull, you know because of how cool they are. But the guy he wanted to buy one from wanted too much money, so he decided to get a dog off Kijiji instead. He emailed me the link to get my opinion on a Doberman Pinscher he was "thinking" about buying.

As soon as I saw the ad, I told him it was a BYB and NOT to get the dog. No health testing, parents who just from the pics barely qualified as DP, no working titles, no "at home" job that they were performing, and he had to pay extra for registration, so he chose not to get the papers with the dog. Basically two black and tan dogs stuck together for the puppies. Well he informs me he already emailed her the deposit so he was getting the chocolate and tan male. GREAT!

So he goes to a mall parking lot (in Alberta) to pick up his puppy.....

The lady has a litter of DP's and a litter of english mastiffs, plus both mothers crammed into the back of her truck under the canopy. So my brother pays her the rest of the money and takes his puppy.

He then calls me to ask my if it is normal for a bone to be sticking out of the end of a tail....UMMMMMMMMM NO!

So when it was all said and done, he had to pay for first Vacs, they were not done, a re-do on the tail crop to cut off the piece of bone sticking out, and a redo on the dewclaws as it had been done so poorly at home, that there are now permanent indents on this dogs legs.

After having the dog for 9 months, he assumed it was completely trained off leash. He was drunk with his friends, dog running around.....gets hit by a truck....this happened in an outlying community that is 6 hours away from a vet. The nursing stating bandaged him up as well as they could, but he had dislocated a hip, severed his cruciate ligament and torn the skin from his pelvis to his ankle, completely open.

There are other "stories" but I don't think I want to take up a whole page posting.

Now, he wants to breed the dog and keep a puppy from the litter, Yay! (*sarcasm*)

So the point of this post is that I really do know your frustration. I am always completely honest with my brother about these things. He gets mad, storms off and doesn't talk to me much anymore, but in the end I am not telling him it to bring him down, I am telling him what an idiot he is, because I care about his dog (and all dogs) enough to say "Look, you are being an idiot here. Take a step back and look at what you are doing."

I hope you can make a break through and help your brother and his family realize that these animals are not disposable, but more than that, that they are worth taking care of themselves. Sometimes the actions we think are people being stupid, are the actions of an insecure person who doesn't realize their worth. Although we are quick to judge, it can be helpful to call them on things so that the next time they do them they realize it and can make a conscious change.
