I had a patient yesterday that is a Navy MP, so of course I started talking dogs with him (yes, my boss just loves it when I do this because I could talk forever). He was very excited to hear of someone local with a Mal. He said they have a number of Mal's in their unit and really love them. He said they do have a few GSD's but felt there are certain advantages with a Mal - specifically their smaller size among other things. He said because of the type of vehicles they are required to get in and out of and the places they need to go in to that the size of the Mal's are more condusive to this. He also said that they have much fewer problems with hip dysplasia and wear and tear from jumping in and out of vehicles.
This was the first time I'd had the opportunity to speak to someone military that actually works with Mal's so it was really great to hear what he had to say
