"Cody has thrown up twice tonight and is laying quietly on a cushion right now. After he threw up he ran back into the living room and layed down...... He has had two bowel movements today and they looked fine, one was a little soft, the other firm."
This is from the original thread on 2/27. What started it all.
Out of a all the test they ran, they came up with "gastroesophageal reflux disease". Which honestly, I still think was only the normal empty stomach pukes that we read about so much.
Then they come back with "low folate and cobalamin". I don't know what that is. Is that fixed? Have they said anything else about that?
Other than that, throughout ALL the threads, I read NOTHING wrong with Cody. For over a month Cody has been happy, and healthy. He was fine 2/26 puked a couple times on 2/27, and since then has been, by your own description, a "wild man".
Now, I encourage you to do whatever you feel you need to do to clear the air. God forbid something really be wrong with Cody and I am telling you to drop it.
But if it were Turbo and I, in the EXACT same situation, I wouldn't spend a second of my day looking for anything else wrong with him. Especially if he was only sick for 1 day out of 32 days.
Cody's low folate and cobalamin levels the vet said was due to him not absorbing nutrients in his intestines. he said this can happen with instestinal upset, but with the shots we hope to bring it back up. he has to have them for about 6 weeks once a week and then once a month for six months. we will test his blood in about a month. It can be serious. You can look it up for all the details.
I just want to know what is going on. I do not understand the low levels either and I have done research on it myself. For whatever reason he is low, so we want to fix that. It can cause him to be lethargic and not eat, to loose weight. But Cody has none of those symptoms except he gets tired easier than before.

This evening I was reading some info on intestinal issues in dogs and I came across a vets answer to someone whose dog they were going to do an elimination diet on.
The vet says he recommends this if they are trying to rule out IBS. Hmmm.
When the vet I have gets back from vacation, I am going to make an appointment to talk with him re: the questions Connie had given me. I wonder if it could be that they are suspecting IBS in cody. Will find out. and learn much more about the new vet I went to.
hmmmmm.
the situation I expect will be resolved soon.
none, but vomiting, but I was just making the statement of when the doctor thought an elemination diet was needed. this was not my vet it is a online vet responding to someones question.
yes, I do not think cody has this illness.
our vet may, i say MAY be thinking this I am not sure. sharon
