We have bought a lab puppy 11/2 mnths back. She is now 3 mnths old. Taking all the obedience training perfectly. She is the third canine member of our family. She has one problem, she eats too fast. We make them seated quietly, give food too all of them, then give the command to start eating. Soon after the command is given she devours it at a breakneck speed. She takes a bowl full of rice and soup and other stuff. But these are swallowed within a flicker of an eyelid. We place the bowl on the floor, she sits before taking the food. All the things are OK, but I could not change the manner of eating. Need suggestion.

The best way I've found is to spread out the food making it difficult to scarf. Some people use cookie sheets, I just dump my labs morning kibble on he patio which scatters it everywhere.
Another option is putting some large rocks in the dish with her food,or feeding her with something like the bob alot toy.
Are you feeding your three dogs close together? If so, PART of this might be scarfing down the food in fear the other dogs will get it. If she is near the other dogs, in addition to trying the jelly roll pan, I'd feed her quietly by herself and see if that has an impact.
No, my elder dogs eat close together, but this pup is given food separately. Whenever she gets food (with / without other dogs around) she beheaves likewise.
