Maya lives for the frisbee. I discovered Kong frisbees and sung their praises in an earlier post here. She seems to really like the weight of them, and they are durable. I notice wear in her lower canines, however, and have to attribute that to the frisbee. The Kong material is softer than a rigid frisbee, but it is heavy. It makes sense to me that catching the heavy frisbee, shaking it back and forth, and letting it dangle from her tooth would all lead to wear. I only wish I made this connection earlier.
I'm off to buy her something like the Flying Squirrel. Hopefully she can love it as much as her Kong! I think if your dog is an occasional frisbee player, the Kong is just fine. For frisbee fanatics, you might want to consider a lighter weight toy.
This one is not very heavy and is very durable, yet soft enough, I can't imagine it doing anything to the teeth.
We just got one and my dogs love it. Just thought I would pass it along if you are interested.
I had a great disc toy called a K9 flyer. Not sure who makes it but it lasted a long time. Its made of a stretchy rubber material and flies really well.
No sand and I don't think enough dirt to account for tooth wear--she does seem to prefer her frisbee dirty though. Must taste better that way. We also have that pesky Virginia red clay.
Two votes now for the Zisc. I'll add that to her growing frisbee collection!
I wouldn't be surprised if the dirt was a big reason behind the tooth wear. Those rubber kong frisbees are pretty easy on the teeth but add some dirt to the mix and you've got sand paper prety quick.
As you can see from my sig pic, Bogie likes the ring flyer. But he also doesn't chew or play tug with it. So I don't know how it would last with a 'more driven' dog!!
