I was brushing Kasey today and he has a ton of dandruff, especially on his back, and has seemed more itchy. He's never had dandruff before in all his 4 1/2 years.
I give him Grizzly salmon oil everyday - the bottle says 4 pumps for his weight- he is raw fed. I also have to bathe him every 1 - 2 weeks because of environmental allergies - I ran out of his regular shampoo a few weeks ago (Veterinarian's Best Hypo-allergenic), and have used Earthbath Oatmeal and Aloe the last 2 baths.
Nothing else has changed.
Do you guys think it's the shampoo? or do you think I need to up the oil? or could it be for some other reason?

It could be the shampoo or it's possible some residue was left which dried out the skin and led to more dandruff. I'd just try another bath and make sure to rinse until the water runs as clear as it would out of the tap.
There is a mite called Cheyletiella yasguri which causes only mild itching, lives along the spine and on the rump, causes no hairloss and produces a TON of dandruff. It's pretty common and catchy dog to dog.
Get a magnifying glass and peer at that dandruff, or at the dog with the hair parted close to the skin in good light.
It is an embarrassing "miss" in the vet office.
Any decent insecticidal shampoo will fix it.
The mite is called "walking dandruff"

Wow, didn't know abou that mite Betty. I looked him all over and didn't see evidence of that. In addition, we have to use Frontline to control fleas, and many articles I read on the mites say that Frontline will prevent the mite, so it's unlikely that's it. He's also never around other dogs.
I'll try going back to my old shampoo and see if that gets rid of it. Thanks for your help!
It's probably just regular old dandruff or dry skin or shampoo flakiness - I just remember it ALWAYS because I missed it once in a black poodle pup who looked like he needed Head and Shoulders shampoo - and it ended up being a mite, once he had an insecticidal bath instead of his standard human shampoo bath, the dandruff was eliminated.
