I primarily use Turkey dogs. You can get something like 3# for $6 at Costco (I currently have about 10# in my freezer), but, when JD has decided that Turkey dogs are not worth paying attention for I bring out chicken hearts. I cut them in to itty bitty pieces (and wear gloves when using them!). He goes nuts for them.
My dogs have such high food/toy drive that nothing seems to be especially special to them food wise. They actualy have more drive for their balls &/or a tug.
For my male I use food when teaching something new, as the ball puts him in over the top drive & he gets hectic. After it is learned....I can switch to the ball & he is more balanced.
You nailed Koenig right there Anne! I could've sworn you were talking about him. Lol. I can only use treats when training something new, he goes psyco if a ball/tug is around.
We use everything already mentioned. Turkey hot dogs and string cheese are pretty high value, along with any leftover meat I've got. (Pork loin was a big hit!) All kinds of Zukes, or Natural Balance food rolls. Oh, another one is Ziwi Peak food- I don't think anyone has mentioned that one! I used to use the treats, until Aaron told me the food is exactly the same, and much cheaper by weight. Awesome!
If we're going with something crunchy, I'll use orijen or taste of the wild kibble, Liver Biscotti, Buddy Biscuits. Koenig is easy. He'll pretty much work for anything.

Kevin, I love that pic!!
"Wishes" -the freeze dried fish from HK? Very big here -as is dried tripe. A word of warning on that one though -went to a big off leash area with that in the bait bag and I was like the pied piper!
My trainer laid her first track this weekend (bless his heart for getting up at 0600 before the kids got on the field!) and used hot dogs fried in butter -not just plain -and her nose never left the ground...
dried liver got the best engagement yet, the vet had me hold a peice while Pisa got her rabies shot...
I was thinking at first that thing looks like a walmart special, but wow, they are ordering me a bag and gave me some of theirs till it comes in
actually they are lighter in color and are slabs a quarter inch thick by about an inch square, they do hold together well when cut up...I think they are freese dried, havent seen the bag, it is a non stocked item for them
