thought i would share how all ya'lls advice has been WONDERFUL
Ace is only chasing his tail every now and then..he is now obsesed with a frisby, tube, or anything else i decide to throw..and he will go and go and go for a solid hour until he finally lays down toung hanging from his mouth. He is still barking at me when i don't pick up the frisby or other item fast enough, or whines when i won't take it out of his mouth..but i think that's just excitement and i haven't discouraged it at all.
OH AND GUESS WHAT!!! he hasn't barked at one more person since i have stopped bite work. He even played fetch with family that came to visit...until i came in the back yard..lol then my dad would throw it and he'd bring it to me. When i tell Ace "all done" when we are finished working, he will sit and stare at me for quite some time. and hardley ever blinks lol. i'm just glad his obsession is changing towards somthing useful and not harmfull
I was wondering if there were any other ways of exercize other than walks, fetch, swimming I can safely do. Some one had mentioned getting roller blades but i thought i'd check in and make sure that wouldn't hurt him. How about doggy back packs? He is now about 5 months and i don't want to put stress on his joints so any advice would be greatly appreciated
What you're doing now should be fine for exercise. You don't want to start rollerblading or backpacks until his growth plates are closed (approx. 1.5 years or so).
How about some more training videos? I posted one of my pup if you care to check her out...it's in the "Introducing Panzer" thread.
i'm so going to check that video out next..i'll get some more video of him tomorrow..my folks are leaving today back to the east coast..lol..they think my pup is nuts
ok no roller blading or packs till 1 1/2 years of age.
yeah i know all about "looking" gentle and sweet..my mom said he was adorable till she went to throw his toy for him. I warned her to watch her fingers and to keep her hand at the end of the toy. lets just say for your pup and mine..looks may be decieving
i would love pics of the pups first swim!! ace gets to go every week..just make sure if you start playing fetch with her to bring 2 items that look alike and have the same value to her i made the mistake of only bringing one..and ace didn't see where his toy landed so he swam right by it and kept going..i had to wade out there are get his toy so he wouldn't keep going. scared me to death that he was that far out. so glad i didn't have to swim out there and get him..although i would have
