My had a dog 25 years ago, that loved the kitty box, and it was such a disgusting thing to behold. The litter box was in the basement of a house I rented with some friends.
My dog would slink up the stairs and the dead give away was the bits of litter on her wet nose that got stuck there! well, that and the obvious slinking because she new I disapproved.
Then last summer we had a mysterious neighborhood cat that jumps our fence and was leaving piles in our yard ( I have never seen a cat defecate like a dog before, right out in the open lawn!)
The dogs could smell it the minute they got out the door and my female rushed over to eat it before I could call her off, she was eating them like Godiva chocolates!
Gotta say, the Kitty Rocca title made me get a good laugh!

ugh, my childhood cocker spaniel adored the litter box and used to sneak into the cat's area to get at it. It was bad enough that it was a disgusting habit, but he'd always try to lick your face afterward. >_<
Two methods I have used to stop the snacking. With my dobes, who would always charge straight to the covered box when being let inside, I removed the litter and poured a half-inch of ammonia in the box. Dogs run in and stick their heads in, then gasp and choke for a few minutes, never to stick the head in again.
On a small dog, I removed all snacks from the box except one. A very special one. Soaked thoroughly with Lousiana hot sauce. Again, a cure.
