I would be very careful not to let this thing happens twice!I kind of could see it might happen again somehow. Sometimes it is easy to make the same mistake again than to prevent it.

Just a thought if you walk your dog again, how about going on the opposite side of the street as well as the good idea you have of keeping your dog on the leash. We have lots of pits here and things can get out of control in one minute or less. The mail man was telling me there are some houses he refuses to deliver the mail. One home has many pits and they go crazy when he comes by to deliver the mail. He has had no luck talking with the owners.
I feel horrible for you. I hope you pups recovers quickly. and I hope you can find somewhere else to walk her.
I would report it. Something even more horrible can happen. I would hate to see dogs even an aggressive dog put to sleep, but if it means others can be protected, I would have to do it. It would be horrible for a little child to walk by and get drug in.

I have some very unusual neighbors myself. One across from us had a pit pull and it killed an old dog as it was walked by it owner. The people always left their gate open. I understand how you can be very cautious of getting them mad at you. But I would call anyway. I don't know how it works, but go down and talk with the authorities and see what they say.

Maybe get a treadmill if you can afford it. I got a real cheap one from Walmart, it is for people, but it works great for my Cody.
I understand your fear. I have a tuff time myself there are so many people who leave their dogs off the leash, and leave their gates open. I do have a car so I drive my dogs to locations to walk them. But I am super vigilant and keep my eyes peeled and if I see someone with a dog off leash, I do not assume they are nice dogs or trained. We go to the car and leave.
