Harley and I have been to about 4 classes so far. Harley is very good, me not so much. I have no timing withthat clicker. The coach insist on a cliker over a verbal marker.
We have touch every obstacles and the weaves are our challange.
The coach is using a ex pen to make a channel with the weave pole. The idea is that the dog learns to bend around the pole. I have seen the other setup of a more tunnel 2 row of poles.
Any one as experience with the weave training. I am the one who finds it hard. Harley will do it for the coach. He lose interest with me has I am slow and out of sinc with him.
The rest goes very well. The hardest part was when I was too slow going on the dog walk and by mistake pulled Harley off and is hard head landed in my leg. I got a nice bruse to show and remind me to move faster. He was not affected by that event and went right back to it. tough dog
Look up Susan Garrett's 2x2 Weave Training. Her method is amazing, it uses marker training, and it will build your dog's excitement for the weaves. Plus, shaping the eaves with marker training will result in a faster, more consistent result than the ex-pen method.
So the coach explain to me why both technics are good but why one is better for us. And to keep on trying a few more time then if it does not work, to try the other way.
So I have a fast dog and I am slow and uncoordinated. The excersise need to slow Harley so I can catch up to him. She had me pratice with out the dog. When to click and where the reward as to be produce.
We made it with out any guide today. 6 poles all by our self 3 time.
Now I just need to run faster so he stop jumping off the dog walk when he gets too far in front of me.
She think, the coach that we will be ready for some competion soon.
Yep, I have found lots of good stuff on her.
Now I can also see why Harley who can get major zoomies needs to think a lot more from the get go.
He is also fear less.
Dexter is using that corridor technic and I can where that benefit his for him.
