1- Why would VetDogs breeder ask me if my Shepherd had any German lines in him? Are German lines better/worse for service work? All work? vs./ K9? ...dysplasia issues? I forgot to ask him. He asked me to send a pic. I sent 4.....well its hard to decide...
The VetDogs Breeder had very high recommendations about your program, DVDs, and products. He was very happy I had hooked up with you guys. That says a lot. Thanks.
Love your Jute bite wedges, felt ropes, floating barbell, everything I ever bought!
I don't think it's that German lines are preferred in service work, but in general, IMO, the 'working' lines are more.....well.... apt to work then the American show lines. They herd, they do PPD work, Police k-9, Sports, SAR.... they are much more prevalent then the American show line dogs in anything that requires health, longevity, and a 'can-do!' attitude.
Possibly because a lot of vets have no idea about German/Czech/Dutch/etc lines of GSDs so any "German" Shepherd Dog that doesn't fit the "traditional" American look must have "German" lines.
Both my GSDs are German/Czech cross. Good or bad it's not an uncommon cross.
Then again, my younger dog's sire was imported from Hungary...from German lines.
Pretty simple huh!
Yes I have a pedigree on him. Sometimes he sits like that after we are done playing. I think he is just airing out.
What do you look for in a working line? He is really beautiful. I get compliments on him everywhere I go. He is a classic Tan/Black with some thick silver growing in around his mane? and above his shoulders. He is 8 months at this picture. Is his top coat even in at this age?
