We rescued a GSD that was 2.5 and was having trouble adjusting to the crate barking/crying and yes escaping! Igot a smaller crate with the pins down the sides so he just fits -not enough room to run at the sides or get hte leverage to pull the sides open-however he did bend the door but it latches at the top and bottom. The foldign crates just are not very strong we would come home and he would have a bloody nose from working at it and if he made it out well he woudl get into things like crazy.
I tried a few things 1. leave the tv or a radio if he is in the garage on place the dog in the cage and walk out -leaving hte house for a few minutes you should be able to hear him when he starts to get restless you need to reenter let him out in a no big deal manner and do this again all day long. the noise said we are still around.
He may be past this.
2. I went for the e collar we left and I sat outside everyone else got in the car and drove off- you may need some help with this is you are by yourself. when I heard the undesired behavior I shocked him it took about 5 shocks and he settled down. WE did this a few days and we had a new dog.each time it took a bit less time.
