Has anyone ever seen a Great Dane in any of the protection sports? I realize that there is a laundry list of reasons why a person wouldn't, I'm just curious if anyone has.
I saw one in Germany during a SchH trial in the 1970's, it was actually pretty impressive to watch ( the dog was so large that the helper had a real problem getting the dog into "the pocket" while it was on the sleeve).
I haven't seen them in the protection sports, but I have worked a few in protection work. And a friend of mine in the first FR club I joined had one he'd titled in Schutzhund. They are interesting dogs to work, so big and physically powerful it's hard to hold them back when they want to go. And it's very easy to underestimate how fast they can move, since their stride is so big you don't realize just how much ground they are covering. This was 15-20 years ago though, I don't know if anyone is still working them anymore.
Has anyone heard of a working line Great Dane breeder? I know that over the years alot of their prey and fight drive has been breed out of them, just wondering if anyone has heard of one.
