Thanks CJ, I'm glad you enjoyed watching it! It's an amazing experience for me to work with a dog that is so willing and eager and just does what you tell it to do, it really makes training fun. (and yeah, can you believe THAT TAIL?!)
Betty, energizer bunny for sure! She can't ever keep her little feet still, it just cracks me up. Working on a calm hold for the retrieve is always an interesting session. She does settle pretty good in the house though, which is a relief.
It’s funny, prior to Vince it had been some time since I had a Shepherd. Plopping him into my pack, with a couple of northern breeds, once he settled and started enjoying life again I quickly noticed his tail curled high over his back like that.
Having seen a few show lines over the years and reading some breed standards, I didn’t think a shepherd was supposed to look like this and thought for sure my husky was having an influence on him. I even posted about it a few years back.
Of course it turns out he’s just a high drive boy with a high tail carriage when he’s really excited about what he’s doing.
These days a tail like that on these breeds tells me happy, happy dog. And in your case, not to mention the excellent handling that’s instilled a great amount of confidence in her. She sounds like a dream pup.
Again, congrats on all your hard work!! It sure shows.
