Joe, unfortunately the best time are the cool time, I never know when this dog is loose and give some woof ticket and run back home and cry like a baby, after the fact.
Joe, my real concern is the two humans involve, I will try to do all things possible, specially speed up in that area. And even calling the police and animal control, again. Dan

Barbara, Chico is now around one hundred pounds, he will flip me and scoter in a flash,
I use the prong collar plus the aggressive dog collar. I just need to have the recall on Chico better, so I have some more training to do.
Hey Dan, its not the recall you need to think about. If you're trying to recall him from something like this, I think its too late. Whether anyone thinks its unfair or not, you need to teach Chico to ignore that other dog and not react to it. Since there's already been contact, its gonna take corrections for him to take his attention from that other dog. When you tell him to leave it, its going to have to realy mean something to him.
I would stay at a distance where Chico is aware of the other dog in the beginning, but not too worried about him yet, and work on it from there.
And in all honesty Dan, I think it would be best to do like someone else posted and go the other way. People like this with these dogs always seem to go away at some point. They get into other trouble, the dog is into something else. Let that something else not involve you.
Steve, you are correct as to recall Chico in that high drive, since I first posted this topic, I have walk my dogs three times, and there are no sitting of the other dog.
I have seen Chico starting to go in to drive as we approach the area, and I give him some corrections for that action, and we bypass the area quickly.
I will do my best to keep my own emotions on cool, plus do more walking on the trails on base. Dan

Maybe try getting some of that bear pepper spray and spraying the dog in the face next time he comes after you. That won't help control your dog, but at least it'll encourage the other dog to stay away
