My GSD slammed himself into a door frame 7 mo ago and has developed a limp now.(He was so excited to be able to go into the yard off leash he rushed the door and slammed into the door frame) He was coming off of Heartworm treatment and had been crated for 5 months before this injury. He limped for a week and was re crated for several more weeks due to this. I had started conditioning him in September for a trial in Nov and he showed a low level limp, never just outright foot off the ground. Elbows are good from previous xray and he has had swelling and increased heat in the shoulder blade humerous area.We have done two weeks of rymidal and are going to schedule xrays after Thanksgiving. Anyone elso had somethin g like this with one of there GSD's? Do they do injections into the joint on dogs like they do in humans??
wow - I would love to hear some answers. My 6 yr old GSD has been limping for a few months, front right shoulder. I think our 2 yr old GSD, who is like a border collie on steroids, body-slammed him while trying to herd him in one direction or the other in the backyard while we were playing. It definitely improves if I seriously limit his activity to short walks and nothing else. But if I ease up and let him be active at all it comes right back. I want to get x-rays but with the x-rays, anethesia and blood work they say they have to do before giving the sedative because he hasn't had a blood workup in a couple years -- they want $600, and that's with 20% off because we give them so much business with our three dogs. Any advice would be appreciated.
Thank you Connie. An update on his shoulder. The NSAIDS seemed to calm him down but a slight limp was still noticeable. Started using a supplement Fluid Line by Fluid Action and the results have been amazing!!! In one week absolutely no limp and we have returned to full training , wall and jump.
