The closest thing we have to an off switch is 30+ min of fetch, and a GO LAY DOWN- DAMMIT!
Yup= totally slacking here Joe! He's been getting the exercise he needs to keep him sane, stable, and able to live in my house, but not NEARLY enough training time. If I want to be ready for our Sch 1 (wait.... I guess I'd better start calling it IPO 1 now, huh?) anytime soon, I've gotta get my butt in gear!
Melissa- OB classes in the winter area a GREAT idea! I wish it was practical for me to do that in the evenings. The way our schedule works out my better half is usually at the Fire Station evenings, and I'm at home with the kids. Such is life though, and it's generally a happy life! Gotta go train the dog now.... I'll update the blog tonight. (Ahem.... KATIE!)
I halfway slack...mostly because I don't have a way to do protection, so I loose motivation. My dog would drive me crazy if I didn't do some training...playing isn't enough. But his heeling is wonderful in a strait line...I have only recently started on turns. Doing everything under distraction of other dogs, now I want to but don't trust anyone...they're stupid. We need to work on that though.
A tired dog is a good dog, a trained dog is a better dog.

Lol - and that would be why I have a brindle BC instead of a brindle DS!
Mine usually get a decent amount of exercise or training, but on those off days I can still throw them a beef rib and they chill really nice afterward.
That's a really nice blogspot Kelly, (the photo on it is hilarious). I love the idea of keeping a training blog. I started a blog a couple of weeks ago for Lusi...called "Lusi Goosey" but now I think I will start a second one just for her training.
I have been fortunate in being able to go to puppy obedience/agility classes but sadly we have just finished the session for the holidays....and even a day or two of interruption seems to impact our training sessions mostly because I start to vary the way I am using my markers ever so slightly...."yes" goes to "good" for duration but then I slip up and use "good" where I should be using "yes"! Then there's my awful habit of adding in that "good-girl" ! ooops...
The tracking lessons are going well though and it looks as though we will keep that up over the holidays! We are aiming to do our TD title by June 2012. So thank you for your training blog idea and also for pinpointing what we all know in our hearts.....that we need as much motivation as our dogs to train!!
