this thing....
I've long since figured out Leerburg's reviews are pretty solid I'm specifically curious if someone has used the bento ball with the interlocking treats seen here http://starmarkacademy.com/products/interlocking-treats/
Gambit and Ryuk want these for christmas....however I'd like to make sure I"m getting my money's worth. Ryuk can pop a treat out of one of these things in oh, about 2 seconds...I figured sealing the treat inside one attached to his fireplug would solve this issue....anyone have trouble with a dog like this, does the interlocking refill solve this? How easy is the "bolt" to break when it's in the toy?
For Gambit I figured this would solve the "I CAN MAKE THIS THING RUN AWAY ACROSS THE FLOOR" issue. He doesn't have the ball...but the fireplug's cylinder design is really fun to roll at 90mph across the floor with 60lbs of clumsy puppy speeding along behind it. I'm also hoping to get him an everlasting treat ball to attach to it, which should also make it less roll-able if I stick a bully stick or two in the treat-free side.
So, reviews anyone? Anybody tried this?

I've used only the LB "ball" refills at http://leerburg.com/1147.htm#refill
If you go for that other product, you might want to email them and make sure the gluten is not imported from China (remember 2006?). Leerburg's is not.

Interlocking Treat Refills
StarMark Pet Products, Inc.
Interlocking Treats have a unique interlocking design that allows you to lock the treats into place for hours of mental and physical stimulation. These treats work like a nut and bolt to lock the treats to any Everlasting Treat toy or to connect two Everlasting Treat toys together for extra challenge.
These refills work with the Everlasting Bento Balls, Treat Balls, Fire Plugs, or Fantastic DuraFoam Balls, which are sold separately. Each refill package contains 2 Interlocking Treats (the "nuts") plus an edible "bolt." These treats are made from specially formulated ingredients that are completely edible and digestible. They feature dental ridges to help remove tartar and have a unique shape that your dog can lick, chew, or gnaw just like a real bone.
Available in two sizes; select the Sizing tab on the left for help.
Made in China. Click on the Ingredients tab on the left for ingredients and a guaranteed analysis. Please note that the maker of the Everlasting Treats, StarMark, has received a Certificate of Natural Origin from the manufacturer of the wheat gluten used in their products, certifying that no artificial ingredients were found.

This is the first I have seen of the interlocking nuts-and-bolt design. So I'm just sayin'........I would use an abundance of caution in trying these. I have one dog I know would be able to break off the ends in no time and probably swallow both the "nuts" and "bolts" sections whole.
I tried the everlasting treat dispensers for the first time with my dogs this past weekend, and it will be the last time. PM me if anybody wants details. I'll just say that, from now on, I will only use them as dispensers for the small, Zuke's-sized treats.

I have tried the Everlasting Treat Dispensers. Bob tore it up! The treat lasted about 5 seconds and then she starting tearing up the dispenser. She is like an alligator. We will stick with the Kong toys, rope toys, and bully sticks.

I guess it does totally depend on the dog. Mine will all take the ball one away to enjoy in private and will lick and nibble for a looong time. Even the real dog.
I guess I'm lucky! lol

My issue would be where the gluten came from. Some of the batches of the gluten that killed so many dogs in 2006-2007 tested OK too. China has now been revealed to have a huge QC problem with food inspection, riddled with payoffs.

It will be a cold day in hell before I ever again buy anything with ingredients from China.
WDJ will not even list some probably-very-good dog foods for the simple reason that they will not reveal their ingredients' origins. And I applaud this.
2006-2007 (and many subsequent) deaths and then the long-term denials by the Chinese government still resonate with me in a very bad way. When it turned out that melamine and wheat gluten have no reason for being used by the same facility and that it appeared that melamine was DELIBERATELY added to boost protein content and thus profit (despite its toxicity), many people were (rightly) appalled.

picked up the locking refills today and used one in the fireplug....
Ryuk would like to tell all dog owners not to buy these because they make it VERY difficult to get treats out of the treat balls, he has been trying HARD for a few hours now and is disappointed all his usual tricks have failed, he's currently trying tools and STILL can't get the things out XD he is being forced to eat the everlasting treat the "right way" by licking and chewing at it in the holder....
So from an owner point of view...these are awesome
I talked to the company today, this refill is poured from the same batches as the other refills, so if one is okay, these should be fine as well.....now if only I can find them in vanilla mint (Ryuk's personal favorite). After the holidays I'll be ordering the new bento balls themselves for the boys, my housemate wants in on a leerburg order. They have presents to open under the tree now so I don't think they'll be missing out until then lol (Stuffable oversized orbee for Gambit, Ryuk gets presents from my parents so he got a new plushie from me)
