Doug Finke Webboard User Reg: 04-25-2004 Posts: 17 Loc: Offline	Hello My neighbor rescued a 7 yr old shitzu. When she leaves, even for a few hours, the dog sits at the door, licks it and drools 4+ ounces of saliva. Leaving puddles. The dog has separation problems. How does one work through this type of issue? Thanks Doug

How does one work through this type of issue? Thanks Doug How long has she had the dog? We have many threads about desensitizing a dog to leave-takings, but first is how long the dog has been there. Second, I can say without exception that leaving a tired dog is Step One. She never wants to leave the dog already filled with unrelieved energy, which exponentially increases any anxiety issues. We have lots more, but tired dog and calm upbeat leaving are going to be at the top of the list.
