My new pup is 9 weeks old and due for a shot on Sunday. The breeder suggested buying it from Tractor Supply Company (TSC) or another agricultural store vs. taking the pup to a vet.
The only thing listed on the Tractor Supply web page is a "5-pack" vaccine. I'd rather give a "2-pack" (distemper/parvovirus) to avoid damaging my pup. I'm planning to follow this protocol: http://www.dogs4dogs.com/puppy-shots.htm .
Anyways, I called the only vet supply store in the area and they refused to sell to me - they only deal with veterinarians. In fact, I was a little annoyed that the woman acted like there was something wrong with me for wanting to do the vaccination myself, like I wasn't qualified or something.
At any rate, can anyone suggest places for me to look where I can buy vaccines for cash? If I can't find anywhere other than TSC I will have to make the choice between "overvaccinating" (with the 5-pack vaccine) or being a few days late. Not sure if that makes a difference, and would be happy to hear informed opinions.
I've already done searching on google, but keep getting results that are only animal clinics and no supply houses.
