Hi,
I started having an issue after i moved off of the scratch boxes and into more realistic searches. When making finds that are in cupboards, or air vents he will often start to lie down and bark at it instead of scratching. Sometimes he will even bite at the area.
Now when doing duffel bags, cardboard boxes, or even a computer chassis the K9 gives heavy scratching indications and very accurately. It seems if its not inside an object on the floor he shows a different forms of indication. His FST article indication is a down so maybe he is attempting that out of confusion
My question is how do get him to scratch on any surface?
I thought just to give him a hand. i could have someone throw the toy in the cupboard, or in the air vent for familiarization since that's how i taught the scratch indication in the first place with the scratch boxes
