I have undisclosed disabilities and I'm employing Logan to help me out...long story. I haven't posted about this before. I was looking at the backpacks on LB....one is a harness/backpack (similar to the service/police harness vest.)
It has a handle on the top, does that hold up to any pulling? Or is it not made for that. I need it mostly as a vest and backpack but some occasional pulling...FYI by pulling I mean more like a seeing eye dog would pull, nothing crazy.
I thought about using a wide collar with a handle (just for leading) and a regular backpack/vest. I'm trying to keep the cost down too though.
P.S. I posted this question in a service dog forum thinking it was their specialty so they'd help me out. Oh no. They flipped PETA style on me for mentioning using a collar. Collars are cruel and I was an irresponsible moron for having a Dutchie aka ATTACK DOG (wtf?) and not a golden or poodle. Yikes.
A tired dog is a good dog, a trained dog is a better dog.
I don't have an answer to your question. I noticed the handle on the service dog vests is bigger, or apparently so. But I think your question is more to the point will the handle on the vest/backpack hold up to use, or is it more designed to be a back-up to a leash and clip.
I have a backpack vest without handle, and also a pulling harness that I've thought about taking to my local shoe repair shop to have a good handle sewn on - have not done so.
I googled dog harness service dog and came up with a number of places to look. Anyway, I'm sure there is someone here who is much more tuned in than me.

Thanks Mike for your input, I'll find it eventually.
Oh and the handle I would only use it occasionally not constantly but holding up to that is important. I really don't need a special harness for him I don't think...but the handle should be a big enough loop so I don't have to bend over to grab it.

If the handles resemble anything like the dog patrol harness handles, I'd say they would definitely handle occasional pulling without a problem. I use the handle on the harness for agitation and I hold the handle when my guy jumps out of the back of the truck to help break his fall. I'm sure if you call LB they could easily answer your questions.
