FYI Logan has hated lawnmowers and I have worked with him on that. He is doing excellent, mowed the lawn today he didn't even look at it. I can walk past other people mowing and he is fine, was near one mowing a field yesterday and was fine. If he evenlooks at it I verbally correct him and he snaps out of it.
After I mowed the lawn I took him on a long walk. I got back to my street and we were both hot and tired. This is his most compliant state. There was a man getting an edger from the back of his truck. No sooner than I noticed it Logan lunged from be side me to the end of the leash, mouth open, teeth bared, lips forward, tail raised, ears forward, no hackles raised....just rarrrrr! He completely forgot he was on a leash,
In the second he hesitated I took over and corrected him twice (first one not good enough) and then walked by with no problem, saw him turn his head and I knee'd him (quicker, and the prong excites). Then he was fine, like ok you're serious I give up. Later walked back by and he didn't even look at the guy. Ok I know I missed a subtle signal right before it happened.
Are some dogs just wired where you can't ever let your guard down? In his eyes I was just walking along daydreaming and failed to make a decision...he just takes over.
I think the sound of an engine starting sets him off. He's not noise freaky at all...something about lawn equipment pisses him off. I was surprised at how sudden he lept into action. I stayed calm and the situation was over in seconds and he was calm again. Crazy Dutchie.

Yep, this is how it is with Enzo. 24/7/365 - never let your guard down, always know what's in your environment before he does, be ready at any given moment that he can react and be ready to hold on tight! He also likes to make decisions when I'm not paying attention. So yes, if you feel that Logan can and will do some damage to person or property, you probably should train yourself to be on hyper alert!
On the flip side, there is nothing more challenging and fun than a dog who is uber smart and willing to work for you!

That's a good thing I naturally tend to be hyper alert most of the time....but every now and then I have an off moment that he has long waited for. But he is an awesome dog.
I have to take him to a new vet wed...I'll rewarn them before I take him in the building.
I love my crazy dog. Yours is a Lab right? LOL

---- Enzo did the same thing to me the other day. Totally my fault. I took him outside sans leash or ecollar; sided him (heel), had him focus and the second a chihuahua got in eye sight he bolted and didn't hear one expletive I yelled! Had that chichi been on a leash I have no doubt Enzo would have killed it. And than I would have killed myself. Lesson learned - no matter how quick I think I'm going to load him in the truck or how late it is, do not EVER guide him off leash outside of our yard. -----

----- HA! Every time I make an dr appointment the techs tell me the vet says, 'oh, man I hope it's not Enzo!' ----

Yep. Crazy lab. His aggression is literally like a light switch. But I can't tell you how fun it is to work him in the field and teach him new commands. Just the other day, for my own pleasure, I taught him to find the remote (I'm lazy), where's my phone (always loosing it), and take the sox off my feet (super lazy!!!) Pathetic I know! I wouldn't trade his crazy for anything!

Logan finds stuff I have lost like my keys in a field...I never taught him that, he just knows what I mean sometimes. Once I was looking and looking for a clicker, it was dark. Logan stood there watching me and then plopped down watching the whole time and I looked at him and said why don't YOU find it for me? He just laid there. I walked over and the clicker was right between his paws the whole time.

This is where I really want to see his thought balloon.

LOL I know! It would be even funnier if he had clicked it. I might teach him that as a new trick...so long as he doesn't tear up my i-clicker in the process. I have some cheap ones but he would have to use a toenail to do it.

Technically, it could be taught. Hmmmmm.
The new vet is awesome...she really understood what to do, not to do and stuff, they were great. Logan was relatively good for a dominant jerk...I corrected him a few times for trying to turn on the vet with a muzzle on. She was great, she waited until was done correcting him, then proceeded. Looks like I may have found a permanent vet for him! When she was done and walked out (muzzle still on) he tried to lunge at her back...but I advised him otherwise.
Most of the time he stood still and looked very annoyed. He was actually very calm really...dominant @$$...just didn't want something done to him and couldn't understand why I wouldn't let him correct her.
