Joliet is not the club I was thinking of. I am a little confused about the details, but the club I ran across that I liked is Midwest Working Dog Assn, south of Chicago. It is actually run by a Malinois breeder, but there is another guy who trials with them that is a certified helper and breeds Cane Corsos (thought it was Rotts, or maybe both).
I looked at entries and results, as well as photos, on the Chicago Dog Sports Festival website, and this particular group of individuals shows consistent progress with the dogs they handle, from year to year to year.
There is a member here, Angie Stark, who is familiar with this group of trainer/handler/helpers.
Hi all. Midwest Working Dog Association / Interstate Working Dog Association is a PSA, AWMA and DVG club. Waine, the TD, is certified PSA decoy and has been a helper at many SchH nationals. He has also trained multiple dogs of his own to SchH 3.
This year alone, the members have obtained IPO I-A (2), PSA 1, PDC(2), IPO I, IPO II, and Working Cane Corso National Champion...with several High (trial, track, ob) awards. MWDA is home of the third Cane Corso to ever achieve a PSA 1 and to my knowledge, the only corso to have titles in more than one sport above entry level....so we put the time in! ;-) We just had our annual Dog Sport Festival and 3 members competed all three days...IPO, PSA and PP Check us out here Midwest Working Dog Association
Hope that clears up any confusion about us. Feel free to contact Waine too
As far as the eval fee...I know that in the Chicago area, there are people who will travel around for free evals...and thats all they ever do. Waine does charge an eval fee but the first month's training fee is reduced by that amount when you commit and come to train.
Here is a vid we shot that morning of the little lady in question:
Kira is the one in the red collar. Her brother Kade is kinda doh-de-doh about the whole thing, but then again, he lives with several little ones and bitey/drivey has been discouraged in his case.
A dog Waine got, trained and titled BH to IPO3 in one season. September 2, 2011 Bh, September 17, 2011 SchH I, November 12, 2011 SchH II, December 3, 2011 SchH III
