Today we worked on our things to do in a box and as I observed behavior I shaped their behavior into behaviors I wanted.
Bindi-got in out and on the box, then she began to move the box with her nose. I started clicking every time she pushed the box around. Now when I tell her to "push" and I point to something, she pushes it all over the floor.
Cody- All over the box and then he got in it. So now I am shaping the "in" behavior. So when I say "in" he gets in the box.
Terra- She is the most creative with the box. She has at least double the behaviors that the other dogs do. I turned the box over and she looks under it. So, I want to shape that behavior into a look command and she will look under things. Or maybe I should say under. I use the watch command to get her attention on me so I think that the "look" command will be ok. But I am not sure yet, and I have time because I won't name the behavior for awhile. So that is it for today. Tomorrow is an off day, its sunday.
How has your training gone today?

Trying to think of something different to work on today...break up the boredom of it. I guess we should do a field search, haven't done that in forever.
A tired dog is a good dog, a trained dog is a better dog.
Did some recalls at the park, focus was on speed...kong reward. We also did a long sit stay with some loud ghetto people behind him that he didn't like. Then we did an out of sight down for 2 minutes....he was great. We also did some PVC holds, he did very well w/ that and then some off lead heeling. This was split into 2 sessions.
A tired dog is a good dog, a trained dog is a better dog.
Bailey and I took our usual hike in one of our city parks that we frequently hike in but this time looked for some new sources of stimulation. Found many of the picnic grounds surrounded by split rail fences that made great 36-40" high jumps. Between working agility exercises on the playground equipment and practicing jumps on those high rail fences, she got good and tired this weekend. It was her first time with jumps higher than 24 inches so it took a little getting used to. Once she got her confidence up, she had a great time.
