Was out with the beloveds this morning, and all of a sudden, Bon Bon dropped her arse to the floor and started licking frantically, I went to see what the problem was, and as I bent down, something stung the top of the back of my leg, so I'm yelling and swearing loudly, when Sam tells me I have wasps around me and Bon.
I gave her half a Piriton, when we got in, but given my pain necessitates me hovering, rather than actually sitting, I can't imagine how Bon's poo hoop is throbbing
I have put some Aloe gel on my leg, but was wondering what I can give Bon to help with hers, every time I go near her to have a look, she clenches her tail tight, so actually applying something to it may be tricky, is there anything I could give her in the way of pain relief? I have some Arnica tablets, would that do any good?
OMG poor Bon!!! What about some kind of anti-inflamatory cream? I really don't know, so make sure you ask a vet first. Ouch is right! LOL you said "poo hoop" never heard that one before. There's also stuff they make just for stings and it numbs it up, I used to have some it was called Sting-Eez.
A tired dog is a good dog, a trained dog is a better dog.
I did think about the bug relief stuff I have, but it's in an aerosol, and I can just imagine me firing a blast of icy spray up her bum
I have got some Sudocreme, if she will unclench and let me smear some on - yummy! - that might give her some relief??
She has had the 'poorly dog' treatment this afternoon, which entails sole use of the sofa, complete with the faux fur bed, so I am giving her some comfort, but every now and then she looks accusingly at her bum, and then me, it's a shame, poor old Bon!
I have always prided myself on having a high pain threshold, but my GOD that bloody wasp packed a punch!, Sam took her Mama to the Golden Arches for some comfort food, and I was whining the whole way there about my throbbing leg, and as she pointed out, think how Bon was feeling about the prospect of pooing with a needle stabbing at the exit
We are both feeling much more comfortable this morning
You may need to give her some Avil to reduce her histamine response. But beware of any other infections she may have and it may be aggravated. But when I or my dogs get stung by honey bees I use Avil (commercial name) . It also makes the dog sleepy.
You can also try ice pack , but I do not know how feasible that is around the posterior of your dog.
Just call your vet and ask her/him if Avil is right for you
Thanks for the link Ram, I will have to see if that is available here in the UK.
Bon is very particular about her nether regions, on the odd occasion I have to do a grass extrication, she gets that cartoon look of surprise about exactly what the devil I think I'm up to with her most personal of areas
An ice pack would have given her some relief, the application of same may have been problematic
I will check on the Avil, I always like to have useful things on the emergency dog shelf.
