Hello! I haven't posted in awhile. That's because everything is going along pretty well. BUT, not too long ago my ex got a Catahoula. She is now about 9 months old and has the BEST nose I've ever seen as far as smelling stuff goes! She is a dog's dog, too. She wants to play 24/7 even after getting run for 30-45 minutes! She is definitely a high energy dog. However, she is SO high energy that she chews everything in sight, including any bedding that I put in her crate. She destroyed a brand new "chew-resistant" pad yesterday in less than 10 minutes when I left for a few minutes! What can I use in her crate? THANKS

Some dogs just cannot have anything in their crate. My Vigo is one of those! He doesn't chew anything...unless it's in his crate. Then all bets are off. Some people use a rubber stall crate instead...I don't use anything.
Sounds like a pretty typical 9 mo old puppy to me.
Like Melissa stated..some dogs, and most pups, cannot have any bedding in their crates. Yes, rubber stall mats are good...but some will chew on them too & they smell like rubber for quite a while (even in stalls). Best to wait until the pup is more mature & try again.
Some dogs just have the need to chew more then others...be it bordom, teething or just the urge that they have. Give the pup a large extreme (the black one)kong to chew on in the crate. They are pretty safe with 99% of dogs. I have not even had heavy chewers destoy one. But I am sure there are a couple of dogs out there that have done so. Just keep an eye out. I still have one in my males crate. He likes to have somthing to mouth. You can even stuff it with peanut butter or cream cheese or whatever & freeze it. It will keep the pup busy for quite a while.
