Not everyone will have the patience to download this video, but if you do you will be entertained. At 36:50 there's an article on a Lab that hunts frogs (which, BTW, is not a very common way to do it).
That was a pretty fun watch, except for all the commercials.
I'll take a thanksgiving trout over a turkey (or shopping) any day. Some nice brookies there (well I guess they called them speckled trout). Nothing like the fight of a rainbow though.
We don't hunt birds, with the exception of the odd grouse, but the determined bird dog at around the 17:00 mark was pretty fun to watch too.
And not a fan of pit lamping under any circumstances but if there's a need to catch those frogs that Jack is sure the dog to do it. He’s one frog catching machine.
Yep, the headlight is a necessity. Froggin' is only done at night. Regardless of how you catch 'em, you can't find 'em without a flashlight, and we have some nasty snakes that you don't wanna grab in the dark.
I've seen some folks get creative at catching, but that's the first time I ever saw it done with a dog.

Those aren't brook trout. They're spotted sea trout (saltwater), and they aren't related to frshwater trout at all. They are more closely related to drum.
Really, they looked a lot like our speckled brook trout. Mind you, I must admit that I just kind of had it running in the background, when it first started, thinking I had 30 minutes to do other stuff. Heard "trout" and watched them pulling it out so I just got a quick glimpse.
Interesting, I'll have to look into those. Thanks for the correction.
