What kind of activities does one do with a pup that loves to jump? I mean, she LOVES to jump! Bella will jump up on you, (we almost have that nipped) she will jump up on tables, she jumps when we are playing together. Im afraid to encourage too much because I fear jumping fences? Do they do that when they are no longer able to go into heat or does that even matter? Owned dogs all my life, first time I've ever had a jumper like this. Agility? Frisbee?
Sprinting, like jumping helps burn off explosive bursts of energy. The Chuckit and a 50ft long line is perfect for that.
I would teach her what NOT to jump whether or not you do agility. Logan is a fence jumper and I had to teach him to NOT jump the fence with a long line and he can't be unsupervised in the yard. The only thing you can do is build a higher fence if you want to leave her in the yard.
A tired dog is a good dog, a trained dog is a better dog.
First keep in mind she shouldn't be doing anything with lots of impact until she's 18 months to two years old for the safety of her hips and joints.
Swimming is a good exercise for pups who love to jump. You can teach them to jump into the water and retrieve a ball or bumper. They can jump as far or as hard as they want to and the water can't hurt them. If you're using a pond or lake just make sure that it's deep enough for jumping and that there aren't any large rocks or branches to hit or get caught on.
If she's a year or older she can do low jumps for agility (highly suggest doing foundation work before introducing jumps) or you can start teaching the foundations of tricks for frisbee with low jumping. Just keep the sessions short and be aware of how hard you're pushing her so she doesn't become too sore.
