We are working on 3 separate behaviors - a crawl, a sit in heeling position on the right, and a spin.
Spin, I am working on trying to fade the hand signal. Crawl, working on keeping his butt on the floor, and with the right hand sit, we're working on getting him to stop jawsing at me and get closer to my leg and better at being parallel.
I was unable to find my video camera so this is all shot on my phone, which causes it to cut off after a certain point, sorry about that I will keep brevity in mind in the future. Also I am aware that my timing is far from awesome. Criticism and suggestions welcome.
The floor seems slick for the dog. It may jut be for taking the video but he'll be quicker on better footing and can concentrate more on his efforts
With being a couple of weeks in you can start fading the hand signals. Obviously that's not necessary since you not training for serious competition. That's just a hangup for ME.

Do you have a porch or maybe garage? I'm thinking how taking sessions outside is usually done gradually because of the hugely increased distraction level.
The screen porch unfortunately has bunnies in it MAJOR DISTRACTION FACTOR! The back porch should be ok for this, he's used to training in the back yard, though he's going to try and angle for a session of kickball or fetch at first I think. We'll see.
I'm going to be following this closely, as I am currenty trying to teach Carlin the spin. He knows the motion and hand signal, I already faded the lure. However, I CANNOT get him to associate the word with the gesture. This hasn't been a problem with any other command, and he can SIT, STAND, BACK, DOWN, COME, WAIT etc without hand signals. It's quite frustrating.
