You can start hide and seek in 2 rooms. Go in the closet, the bathroom. Behind the couch. We say, "where's xxxxx?"
Our dogs get really excited about this. Plus it involves sit and stay in between runs, it involves
"here", and it's the beginning of "seek".
I do it a little different Cat. I don't ever try to wear them out. I don't think I could anyway. I spend the time setting a routine where I try to show them when its time to do something and when its time to relax.
good idea, shes settling into our routine better now, and will chill out while we watch tv...but she needs her walks, playtimes and hide and seeks..gunna get her into an obedience class soon as well. She definitely needs some manners!
old age means realizing you will never own all the dogs you wanted to- unknown

I do "find it" games too, even though I have all adult dogs. It's a good thing when it's miserably wet out (although we do get outside every day regardless, of course).
Any thinky or focus stuff is good for draining a bit of that excess energy.
With my pack, if it involves food rewards, their entire heart and soul goes into it. I just make sure the rewards are tiny, and also real food (such as http://leerburg.com/1078.htm ) and then I just count them in with the day's food. This means I can be pretty lavish with reward games.

So is part of this a fairly regular schedule, Steve?
I'm a big fan of a regular schedule, too, for many reasons.
