Thought we needed some updated happy dog pictures ^_^
After the range of tests and such to figure out if there was any underlying reason for her condition other than neglect it was determined she's just had some prolonged neglect over her lifetime. Proper diet and regular grooming and exercise she's rebounded beautifully. We had a minor sinus infection set back but even through that she still gained (just a little less because she couldn't smell her food).
Willow has put on about 2lbs a week and is almost at her proper weight (minus some muscling, we're working on that).....she'll be ready to get get spayed very soon and I plan on removing some of her growths (like the one on her face and foot) at that time ^_^ She's now starting to muscle out with daily trots and can go over two miles then come and work on recall games. She's been completely sound the entire time.
If you do haaaappen to know anyone looking for an active older shepherd let me know, we're in Ohio she's been started on marker training and is housebroken and crate trained. She's lovely in the house and now she's on a regular feeding schedual has stopped "scavenging". At this time we think it's best Willow gets a home with no direct contact with cats. She's been very good with the dogs she's been living with (all male). She would do better with a mature dog as opposed to a puppy as I think with the amount of litter's she's had her boundless energy puppy tolerance is gone. That being said she loves to play and has a grand old time bouncing around with Gamble.
Very food motivated, is learning all about the wonder of toys (by taking them out and making a bed to roll and chew on).
I would not call her a beginner dog as despite her age (around 8) she's VERY energetic and driven.

What a beautiful old girl. I'm so glad she's safe. There's a 10 year old shepherd mix (white muzzle and all) at the kill shelter that's breaking my heart, but she's severely cat aggressive and I've got two
