This brings up another question for me - I was rewarding because it was allowing me to get more reps in. i.e. She targets, I mark, she comes to me for reward and then repeat and we got multiple high energy reps in a short time. So if I reward at the object, what would be a good way to get multiple reps? Or don't worry about multiple reps?
Mark and toss the reward to her! That way she'll learn to stay with the target item because she'll know the reward will come there.
I wouldn't repeat a rep at the same spot until I've gone through a few others.
With that said I would also very the distance YOU are from the reward or she'll start picking up on your distance in relation to target scent and reward.
I'll disregard my fear of jinxing this for a moment to say that I think my dog really likes this game! I introduced a new object this week. This morning on a whim (bad trainer, I know...) I set out the new object and the one object that she really knew the name of before starting all this (a generic well loved stuffed toy that has long been unstuffed and is known simply as "toy")
She picked the new object that I asked for by name
I mean I figured she would and set her up for success by putting the new object on front, but I was still really pleased with how she disregarded the much loved toy to confidently bring me what I'd asked for.

Re: Naming objects. One of my objects in a red Tuffy ring. Initially I was going to call it "Red" then I realized that that was super close to "ready" which I use as a starting word.
Next thought was "ring". That was quickly discarded as well. Why? because it sounds almost like "bring" which Kenz is already quite familiar with as well.
I finally settled on "Rojo" - Spanish for red. Simple for me and a unique new word for Kenzi
