Thanks again, all. I've had them both since puppies and bred the male, so I do feel I know them well. I don't leave toys out. It's just them and the furniture (which is safe now that puppyhood has passed ) I am not too worried about these two fighting as they are m/f and don't have a history of it. But I totally agree with others above that its a risk especially with newer dogs and health concerns.
The puppy Hudson (Capt Chaos) gets the crate and may be there for some time, he is only 11 wks.
Lady & the cat can do their thing, but I do have a baby gate to secure the little box- she likes the hurdle.
