Off on another tangent - I have started to refer to that as the 'counter surfing lottery' because as hard as I try to break it, every once in a while someone leaves the leftover bowl of cereal/crust of bread on a plate on the countertop and Duke wins the lottery! And we start alllll over again.
E-collar for the offender that leaves the leftover cereal/crust of bread on a plate.
My dogs have always learned to leave a plate alone even if it's left in the middle of the room on the floor BUT one Border terrier I had seems to think that if the plate was on the end table near the couch it wasn't covered in the rules. I could leave a plate on the floor over night and it still wouldn't be touched but that damn end table....

I had a lunchtime moment myself yesterday.
I had taken two scalding hot cheese and leek pastries out of the oven, and in the second it took to bend down to shut the oven door, Kaiser had jumped up, stole one and swallowed it whole.
It made its inevitable re-appearance an hour later, all over his and Sugar’s bed, then began a 24 hour period of drooling like a fountain.
All the bedding had to be washed, which meant they had to sleep in the lounge on the sofas, places normally I have to crow bar Kaiser off at bed time, but last night he wanted his bed, and I had a night of up and down trying to placate him.
Miraculously his mouth isn’t burnt and he is eating normally without any more throwing up, he is being super clingy today, and I have been wiping his chops constantly like a ten stone drooling baby.
It goes without saying, when the oven is in use since from now on, he will be shut firmly out.
