Got a good deal on a bone in picnic shoulder today and got it home to find 8% salt suction added. Seems pork all around has salt solution added. Is this ok?

Personally, I would just rinse the meat off with plain water and feed it. But that's just me. The total amount of sodium in the meat as fed would be negligible. Whole chickens and turkeys are also frequently sold with this added salt water. I'm convinced it's nothing but a scam to add a few additional ounces to the weight of the meat which the seller can charge for (the item is sold by the pound). As soon as you open the packaging, the salt water runs down the sink. Canned fish is even more heavily salted. I give it a rinse with plain water and feed it. I don't go out of my way to feed salt to dogs--but I don't obsess over it either.

I thought as Bob said at first, but then thought, well, it's a part of the diet, and a meat that the dogs already do well with ..... sounds good to me!
I've learned over the years (OK, decades) that so many commercial foods and treats are laden with not just sodium, but even sugars in several forms .....
I can do much better with a homemade diet and a bit of balancing knowledge and care.
