A 42'inch tall one should be adequate for the life of that dog. My dog is 45 pounds and 19"inches at the withers. He used to/ seldom now uses a 48'inch one. It definitely tall enough and i wish i went with a shorter one.
Mine was not purchased from leerburg. I "think" one of them is easier to clean and holds less bacteria/ perhaps more rust resistant. However i see no difference ad long as you keep it clean. Buy the one you like more.
This is my experience only; it may not happen to everyone. I originally bought two ex-pens; one gold zinc and one black.
After storing both of them in my parents somewhat damp basement for a little over a year, the black one is still in perfect condition but the gold one has some funky build up on it; almost like oxidation of some sort.
Not sure if the dampness of the basement had anything to do with it or not but if I had to buy an ex-pen again, I would go with a black one.
