in general, is it best to keep with this schedule or would it matter that much if i increase the portion size and reduced to 2 feedings.
given the fact that i have heard bloat is more induced with larger feedings.
i feed on an elevated feeder. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />
At 6 months you can feed 2 times a day. Bloat is a concern if the pup engages in exersise after eating a meal. Avoid strenuous excersise for 2 hours after a meal.
DOBE: Here is an abstract from the research:http://www.vet.purdue.edu/epi/dietrisk.htm
It has also been published in the Journal of the American Veterinary Medicine Association, Vol 217, No 10, 11/15/00 issue. Borrow it from your vet.
this study doesnt really tell me much regarding elevated feeding or did i miss something.
although it is mentioned that this study confirmed previous reports of increased risk of GDV with elevated feeding along with age and heredtary factors. there is no indication regarding percentages of the increase of bloat occurence with elevated feeding alone.
it mentioned confirming previous reports, any idea where those can be found?
i would like to see studies done with regards to elevated feeding alone with other factors constant. i.e, age, type of food ,ect. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />
If you get the full article from your vet, rather than just the abstract, there will be full info there and it will tell you the reference for the previous studies.
